Zgen – Digital Creative Agency & Portfolio WordPress Theme Overview
Zgen is an agency and portfolio theme published on ThemeForest by CodeXup and built around the Elementor editor. The listing counts four or more home designs with sixteen inner pages, and the vendor demo currently serves five home layouts alongside about, service, portfolio, team, pricing, FAQ and contact templates.
What it supplies is a presentation layer rather than a business system. The page structures are there for a studio to publish its services and its finished work, and everything that fills them remains the owner’s to produce. Motion is part of the product: the demo loads the GSAP animation library on every page.
Header and footer layouts are assembled inside the builder instead of a separate panel, and the package carries a Zgen Core plugin plus a Redux options screen. Installation and setup are AppiAppi’s part of the work; the theme itself stays a third-party product with its own vendor.

Who Zgen – Digital Creative Agency & Portfolio WordPress Theme Is Suitable For
Best suited to a small design or marketing studio that already owns finished project photography and wants a structured place to publish it, next to a short services section and an enquiry route. Freelancers presenting a single discipline will find the service and portfolio templates enough. Anyone needing a storefront, member accounts or job tracking should look elsewhere, because none of that is part of the package.
Important Notes About Zgen – Digital Creative Agency & Portfolio WordPress Theme
The three version signals disagree. The published changelog stops at 1.1 in August 2024, the packaged style.css reads 1.1.1, and the marketplace file was updated in December 2024, so at least one release went out undocumented and the version string cannot date the download.
The marketplace record declares Elementor Pro, Gravity Forms and WPForms, none of which the listing advertises and none of which the demo loads. Mailchimp for WordPress runs the other way round: advertised and running, but missing from that record. The record also carries the weakest documentation rating although a product specific documentation site exists.
Deactivating the bundled Zgen Core plugin removes the shortcodes and post types the layouts depend on. Demo photographs and display faces are licensed to the vendor, not to the buyer, so replacements are part of the build. Mailchimp sign-ups are governed by Canada’s anti-spam legislation, which requires consent, sender identification and a working unsubscribe link.
Heavy scroll animation can obstruct keyboard and screen reader users; AODA in Ontario and the Accessible Canada Act both point at WCAG 2.0 AA, and AppiAppi can reduce the motion. AppiAppi provides no legal advice.
Setup & Ongoing Management by AppiAppi
AppiAppi installs the licensed theme on the customer’s hosting, applies the Zgen Core plugin and the options panel, and builds the home page from the chosen demo rather than importing everything. Project and service templates are set up with the customer’s own copy, headings and alt text so the work is readable to search engines as well as visitors. Enquiry forms are connected and tested, image sizes and compression are configured for slow connections, and animation is tuned down where it interferes with reading. AppiAppi can also apply its AI-assisted SEO and content service to the finished pages.
