WindowMag – News & Magazine WordPress Theme Overview
WindowMag from bbioonThemes is a news-first magazine theme shipping six demos: news, fashion, food, sport, blog and technology. A home page builder assembles post blocks and carousels, and a news ticker runs in the header.
Its real depth is per-post control. Any post or page can override the sidebar, add a cover, and show or hide advertising, meta, the author bio, sharing and related posts, and a review can sit above or below the article.
Thirteen custom widgets each offer four post styles: recent, most viewed, most liked, author, random and category. View counts show in the admin, posts and comments carry like buttons, and the theme adds a reading indicator, breadcrumbs, code highlighting and schema markup.

Who WindowMag – News & Magazine WordPress Theme Is Suitable For
A Canadian news site, regional title or sectioned magazine is the target, especially one wanting several desks on one front page and control over each article’s furniture. The review scoring also suits a games, food or product title.
Publishers needing current block editor tooling should pause: the record declares this theme not optimised for it, and its compatibility ceiling stops several WordPress releases back, so the editing experience needs testing first.
Important Notes About WindowMag – News & Magazine WordPress Theme
Advertising here is placements, not an ad system. Measured against scheduling, targeting and revenue reporting, these are widget areas and advert code boxes: no inventory, no flight dates, no per-advertisement counts and no earnings figures, which stay in the network’s dashboard. The newsletter widget names no provider.
Several features name closed services: Google Plus among the sharing icons and as a page widget, StumbleUpon still listed, and an Instagram widget and carousel depending on access the platform has since restricted. No removal lines exist, so each needs testing. The packaged style.css reads 1.6.4 while the published log stops at 1.6.3 and carries no dates, against a September 2024 file update, so the gap is documentary rather than abandonment. The options screenshot comes from another of the vendor’s themes, and the widget count differs between two places. Canadian defamation law is far less forgiving of publishers than its American counterpart, offers no equivalent public-figure exception, and can attach responsibility to a site that moderates what readers write, so comment rules, a route to seek a correction and an identified editorial contact belong on the finished site. Online News Act duties, and whether the owner could hold Qualified Canadian Journalism Organization status, are questions for their advisers. AppiAppi gives no legal advice.
Setup & Ongoing Management by AppiAppi
AppiAppi installs the customer’s licence, picks the closest demo, then builds the home page from post blocks and carousels matching the publication’s real sections, and sets the ticker, category covers and sidebars. The article template, review placement, author profiles, related posts and per-post overrides are configured, and advertising areas use the owner’s own network tags.
Consent handling for advertising and analytics scripts is configured, a newsletter block connects to the owner’s mail provider, and the feeds and structured data checked. AI-assisted SEO and content work, updates and monitoring then run on the customer’s plan.
