Holmes – Digital Agency WordPress Theme Overview
Holmes is a digital agency theme from Mikado-Themes. Sixteen homepage examples ship with it, and its real depth is in the portfolio: list layouts for masonry, gallery, slider, fullscreen slider, paired projects and interactive links, with five distinct single project templates behind them.
Page assembly runs through WPBakery Page Builder, Slider Revolution comes with it for slider work, and a large shortcode collection covers team profiles, client grids, split sliders, pricing and full screen information panels.
No client portal, proposal tool, invoicing or project tracking is included; enquiries arrive through a form.

Who Holmes – Digital Agency WordPress Theme Is Suitable For
Canadian digital, advertising and marketing agencies with a substantial back catalogue are the buyers this rewards, because the number of portfolio list and single project templates lets different kinds of work be presented differently.
A new studio with three projects will not use most of it, and the price is hard to justify then. Teams that prefer the block editor should note that the layout vocabulary belongs to WPBakery and its shortcodes.
Important Notes About Holmes – Digital Agency WordPress Theme
Read this first: from the 2022 release the theme blocks its own shortcodes and custom post types from loading unless the installation is registered. That is a dependency of the running site, not a step during the build. If registration is never completed, lapses, or is rejected after a move to a new domain, the pages lose the content built from those shortcodes while the styling remains. That is more serious than an update licence, which merely withholds new releases. The purchase code belongs to the customer, so it has to stay valid for as long as the site runs. The Holmes Core plugin is the related dependency and carries the same consequence if deactivated.
The feature list still advertises Twitter and Instagram widgets and list shortcodes, yet the December 2025 release removed both vendor plugins behind them after both platforms changed their interfaces.
Client logos and testimonials ship empty and should only ever be filled with material the business can actually show. The vendor states it does not own the demo photography and that it cannot be reused, and client work in an agency portfolio usually needs written permission. Legal questions of that sort fall outside AppiAppi’s service.
Setup & Ongoing Management by AppiAppi
Holmes is licensed to the customer, and AppiAppi installs it, completes the theme registration so the shortcodes and post types load, then reworks the selected homepage and inner pages around the agency’s own identity and content.
AppiAppi then sets up the case study pages and single project templates, the filterable portfolio categories, the capabilities and team pages, a project brief form carrying a privacy notice and a stated retention period, and the journal. Imagery and video are compressed and responsively sized, transitions are moderated where they interfere with keyboard navigation, and ongoing service covers AI-assisted SEO and content support, update handling including the registration status, enquiry replies and site management matched to the customer’s plan.
